Dear Friends Who Love Food,
Several people have inquired as to the whereabouts of last week's Table For Twelve invite, and the answer is: there wasn't one, because the intern was supposed to write it, but the intern is still doing dishes from Greek Easter. Wash faster, Intern! Just kidding, but it's no joke that we've been so busy working on our soon-to-be-unveiled website, planning exciting upcoming TableTalkPortland features and events, and writing our pocket Portland restaurant guide "50 Great Places to Stuff Your Faces," we are going to begin holding Table For Twelve dinners every other week starting this Wednesday.
So, this week we are heading to Castagna (our TFT inaugural destination) for the Table for Twelve at Castagna: "Yes We're Going There Again, For the Spring Asparagus Dinner!!" edition. Not because we're lacking in great new places to try, but because super-cute Executive Chef Elias Cairo is cooking up a fantastic Spring Asparagus Dinner and we adore asparagus. We also adore Spring, even though in Portland, you have a better bet of getting asparagus in May than Spring.
Chef Elias Cairo's exquisite three-course Spring Asparagus Dinner tasting menu is as follows:
Asparagus soup with fried morels
Pork schnitzel with asparagus
Elderflower ice cream
And, if you can believe it, the $45 price tag includes wine pairings! Amazing! Splendid! Magnificent! Let's all go sup at Castagna's on Wednesday and enjoy schnitzel and elderflower-asparagus ice cream! (Note: We have not verified that there will in fact BE asparagus in the ice cream. But it is certainly going to be in the schnitzel.)
Details, Details
When: Wednesday, May 7, 6:30 PM
Where: Castagna Restaurant, 1752 SE Hawthorne Blvd (at 18th)(www.castagnarestaurant.com)
Why: In case, like us, you are curious as to whether there will be asparagus incorporated somehow into the Elderflower ice cream. Come and find out!

See you at the table,
Jen & Michelle
