The Incredible Lucy's Table (NW)

I was in an incredible hurry on Thursday and I was in an incredibly bad mood caused by my incredibly bad day, so I felt like I needed an incredible meal. I was finishing up my haircut on NW 21st and it takes FOREVER, so by the time my four hour stint (I have no idea why it takes this long) was over I was starving. I had about an hour to get to a meeting and the BF called and said he was in the area and thought we should get a quick bite. I walked out the door of the salon and saw Lucy's Table and told him to meet me there. It seemed like the perfect haven of comfort and good food to turn my day around. When I walked into Lucy's, the bar had no tables, because they have an incredible happy hour, but don't count on being able to take part in it, because they only have 5 chairs (slight exaggeration) and for some reason they are ALWAYS taken and a semi-snooty host always has a smirk when he says, "sorry there are no seats left." Anyway I was in a hurry, so I told the host to seat us at a table.

I was feeling the time crunch, so I quickly scanned the menu and ordered two glasses of the Jezebel Pinot Noir, but they were out so I had some other one... it was good but not as good as the Jezebel. The BF showed up when the wine arrived and I suggested that we go for the small plates, because we didn't have time for a full dinner. We started with the Butternut Squash Soup, which had a lot of truffle oil on top, which overpowered the smooth and subtle taste of the squash. After I turned the soup over to the BF, I moved on to Mesclun Greens Elephant Garlic Chips, Macadamia Vinaigrette, and Fresh Goat Cheese and it was soooo much better than the soup.

The meal just kept getting better as we went on to the Goat Cheese Ravioli Brown Butter Sauce, Pecorino Romano, Crispy Shallots & Pancetta and the Pomegranate Glazed Baby Back Pork Ribs Manchego Cheese. The ravioli is a house favorite for Lucy's Table and you will know why when you taste it. The caramel taste of the browned butter, the crisp and tart shallot, the smooth goat cheese tenderly wrapped in pasta is amazing. It really goes well with the pork ribs that just have a slightly sweet glaze and braised to the point that they fall apart when you touch them... excellent.

After that fine meal I had to head to my meeting, but it was an incredible meal and it make me incredibly happier...

  1. That was an incredible posting, sis. I think your hair looks fantastic, so the four hour ordeal was well worth it. What I want to know is, why are you such a hater when it comes to the truffle oil? That's all I hear when we go out. It's like, "Ew, Jen, can you smell the truffle oil coming from that table's fries? I am going to go over there right now and knock them all over the floor," and "No Jen, I don't want to order that, it has a drizzle of truffle oil and if you order it I will knock it all over the floor," and "Quit deep conditioning your hair with truffle oil, Jen, or I won't sit by you," and "No, I don't want to co-adopt a truffle-hunting pig named Forsythe with you, Jen."
I'm sick of all the truffle-related negativity sis, is all I'm saying. But aside from that, really fab review.

  3. Thanks for your comment... Lucy's Table is definitely cutting edge with their originality but they do have good food.

  4. Lucy's Table was great. I'm a ravioli lover and the ravioli was fabulous. I wasn't really in the mood for pork ribs... However, when they arrived and fell apart when I touched them with my fork.... I was pleasantly surprised. They disappeared quickly. I would definitely order both dishes again. The wait staff was excellent and responded nicely to our short time frame.

The truffle oil was a little overpowering on the soup, Jen.

  5. Sis, did you mean, NOT cutting edge? Just clarifying. BF--perhaps they should have added just a pixie dust's worth of truffle oil?
